The Environmental Charter School (ECS) announced that Kristen Maser has been appointed director of communications for the organization. She will formally assume the role on February 11 and will be working with the interim director of communications to ensure a seamless transition.

Proposed Campus Announcement

The Environmental Charter School (ECS) recently announced that it plans to begin negotiating a lease agreement that will allow it to move its middle and high school program to the Elmhurst Innovation Center along the Monongahela River.

If agreement is reached, transition to the new campus is anticipated for the 2027-28 school year.

Sixth graders at the Environmental Charter Middle School welcomed author Ally Russell to the school today (October 24, 2025). A Pittsburgh native who writes books for children that are creepy and thrilling, Russell spoke to students about her new book, how she builds suspense, her writing process and more during her visit this morning.
