Dear ECS Stakeholders,

The end of the school year is quickly approaching, and in the spirit of being a global citizen, ECS is gearing up for its district wide volunteering day, #ECSCares Day, on the last day of school on Thursday, June 13 from 9–11 a.m. Please review the important details below to ensure your student receives credit.

  • Thursday, June 13 is an asynchronous learning day, and students' participation in #ECSCares Day will count toward their attendance for school.

  • Parents/guardians must accompany their student at #ECSCares Day as well as provide transportation.

  • ECS recognizes that not all students can participate at volunteer sites. Any students who are unable to volunteer on-site must volunteer at home or in their community prior to the last day of school. Please see the ideas at the end of this communication for ways to get involved!

  • To ensure your child is marked present regardless of if they are at volunteer site or completing a service project on their own, please take a photo of them volunteering and post it on Facebook or Instagram using #ECSCaresDay2024, or send your photo to media@ecspgh.org.

I am pleased to provide you with the list below of volunteer opportunities for #ECSCares Day.

Please take a moment to read each volunteer site’s descriptions, age requirements, and sign up by Friday, May 31. Once you and your party register, you will receive additional information regarding your site’s logistics in your confirmation email. Once a site is at its designated capacity, individuals will no longer be able to register for that particular location. Please keep your confirmation email for future reference, and if you have any questions between now and #ECSCares Day on June 13, please reach out

Thank you for your dedication to building a global citizenry and for your support of our school, its mission, and its surrounding community. This is what being an ECSer is all about!

Submit a picture to media@ecspgh.org or post it to social media using #ECSCaresDay2024 to meet the attendance requirement. Below are a few suggestions for independent volunteering opportunities, but you are welcome to choose your own adventure.
